Application Requirements for International Students

Who can apply?

  • Foreign nationals
  • Those who are natural born Turkish citizens and have received permission of renouncement of nationality from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and those who can prove that they possess the Document Related to the Usage of the Rights Granted based on the Turkish Citizenship Law for their minor children registered at the document of renunciation of Turkish citizenship.  (Turkish Citizenship Law No. 5901 Article 7- (1) indicates, “A child born to a married Turkish father or mother, whether in Türkiye or abroad, is Turkish citizen.” So, it is highly recommended for candidates, who are going to apply for foreign student admission quota, to review the Turkish Citizenship Law.)
  • Foreign nationals who became Turkish citizen afterwards/dual citizens in the same status
  • Turkish nationals who completed the last three years of their secondary education (high school) in a foreign country excluding Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, (including those who completed their entire secondary education (high school) at Turkish schools in the presence of Ministry of National Education in a foreign country excluding Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) before 01 February 2013.
  • Turkish nationals who completed their entire secondary education (high school) in a foreign country excluding Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, (including those who completed their entire secondary education (high school) at Turkish schools in the presence of Ministry of National Education in a foreign country excluding Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) after 01 February 2013.
  • Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus nationals who reside there and completed their secondary education there having a GCE AL certificate, and those, who registered to high schools in other countries between 2005-2010 and hold or will hold GCE AL certificate.


Who can not apply?

  • Turkish nationals, who completed their entire secondary education in Türkiye or in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
  • Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus nationals (excluding the ones who completed their entire secondary education there having a GCEAL certificate, and those, who registered to high schools in other countries between 2005-2010 and hold or will hold GCE AL certificate)
  • Dual citizens who are natural born Turkish citizens as defined in *3) item 2 of article a (excluding those who meet the requirements in item 4 of article a)
  • Dual citizens who has a Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus citizenship (excluding the ones who completed their entire secondary education there having a GCEAL certificate, and those, who registered to high schools in other countries between 2005-2010 and hold or will hold GCE AL certificate)
  • Turkish nationals or dual citizens, who have a Turkish citizenship by birth, that attend schools affiliated to the embassies in Türkiye, and foreign high schools located in Türkiye.

Applications of candidates, who do not hold any exam results or diplomas stated here, will be evaluated by taking their high school diplomas and high school transcripts into consideration. If necessary, respective academic units may conduct an interview with the applicant and evaluate the application accordingly

Required Documents for Application to Undergraduate Programs

The documents required for application must be translated if they are written in any language other than Turkish or English.

  • National or International Exam Score
  • High school diploma
  • High School Transcript (grade list)
  • Passport Copy
  • ​English language proficiency certificate, if there is any (TOEFL, PTE, FCE etc.)

Application fee

  • In order to apply for the undergraduate programs, the students must pay an application fee of 25 USD.
  • Online application process is completed only if the application fee is paid by credit card at the end of the online application.
  • Applications without application fee payment can not be evaluated.

Scholarship/Discount Options

IUE offers different types of discounts/tuition scholarships based on the academic success and background of the applicants. Please note that there is not any separate application for scholarships. Each applicant is also evaluated for relevant discounts/scholarships. If a candidate is qualified for any type of discount/scholarship, s/he will be notified with an acceptance letter explaining all detail.
