LANGUAGE EXPERIENCE OF GIFTED CHILDREN

Izmir University of Economics welcomed gifted children. Students of Konak Bilim ve Sanat Merkezi (Science and Art Center) came together with foreign national instructors of Izmir University of Economics, where the medium of instruction is English, and practiced English for 2 hours. Instructors, working at IUE School of Foreign Languages, taught games to almost 60 students and got them familiarized with a new language. 

Mehmet Ali Atakan, Coordinator of Izmir University of Economics Rectorate, stated that last year they visited students of Konak Bilim ve Sanat Merkezi receiving training in the building of Alsancak Meliha Özakat Elementary School. Atakan said, “We wanted these students to meet with our native speaker instructors. They did not take part in such an activity before. 10 of our instructors met with the students, engaged in speaking activities and played games with them.”

Atakan, who pointed that they intended to train students with above average IQ at Izmir University of Economics Science College planned to be established at Güzelbahçe Campus, said that they also wanted to provide support for the students of Konak Bilim ve Sanat Merkezi.
