“NAVI” FOR INDOOR NAVIGATION
Failing to find direction in multi floor locations such as plazas, hospitals, etc. made students take action. Students of Izmir University of Economics made it easier for folks to find the rooms they are looking for, and prevented waste of time with the Navi Indoor Navigation project they developed.
Burak Çiçeksoy, Hakan Kayan, Oğuzhan Ulucan, Çağatay Kırmızıay, Burcu Karaca, students of IUE Department of Electrical and Electronics, prevented waste of time with their project with the support of Embryonix Technology Transfer Office. People will be able to download this smart application on their mobile phones and find their way around complex buildings such as municipalities, airports, courthouses, etc.
‘Waste of Time’
Burak Çiçeksoy, a junior at IUE Department of Electrical and Electronics, said that as the number of buildings increased they got more complex and people lost time trying to locate the offices and could not find anyone to ask questions. He stated the following:
“People are getting confused and lost in a building they are not familiar with. They lose their way around buildings such as courthouses, hospitals, art centers. We cannot afford to waste time in our day. Considering this, we developed an application based on indoor map of buildings. We will install the Bluetooth module in the building and come up with a digital map of indoors of a building. We will then install these digital maps in Android based mobile applications. This way, users will be able to download this on their smart phones via Google Play and easily find their way around a building.”
‘Less Energy High Benefit’
Çiçeksoy reported that instead of using regular Bluetooth, they used energy efficient Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) in their projects, and the application would be used at multi room locations such as airports, museums, art galleries, schools, hospitals, municipalities, plazas, and fairs.
