MADE HER FIRST SALE AT THE EXHIBITION
The exhibition, which includes the projects of Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Departments of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design and Industrial Design students prepared within “Furniture Design” course, was opened.
Izmir University of Economics, President of the Board of Trustees Ekrem Demirtaş brought students together with Izmir Chamber of Commerce Furniture Professionals Committee members at the exhibition that was held at Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Building. Prof.Dr. Tunçdan Baltacıoğlu, Acting Rector; Prof.Dr. Gülsüm Baydar, Department Head of Architecture; Assoc. Prof.Dr. Can Özcan, Department Head of Industrial Design; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deniz Hasırcı, Department Head of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, faculty members and students attended the exhibition where 30 projects were displayed. Furniture Professional Committee members chose the best project and purchased it at the exhibition which was consisted of projects of Furniture Design Course Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tolga Benli’s students. Junior student Turaç Yonturalı’s coffee table project was admired by the members and purchased for 400TL.
President Demirtaş stated that students who graduate from Izmir University of Economics make a difference enterprisingly. Demirtaş said, “This is my second time visiting this exhibition. I realize again that our students did a wonderful job. Our goal is to train and graduate entrepreneur students. I see that we’ve accomplished this. Professional committee members that attended the exhibition will broaden your horizons and may be you will find an opportunity to market your projects already.”
President Demirtaş and representatives from the sector examined each product one by one and received information from the students about the projects after the opening of the exhibition. Sector representatives promised the students to sponsor their projects during the production phase next semester.
