MEETING WITH THE STARS OF THE SECTOR

Izmir University of Economics-Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design continues to bring the students together with the leaders of the sector by organizing weekly workshops.
Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, which organizes various seminars throughout the semester, has welcomed 5 specialists within the scope of Applied Workshop 1 course for senior students led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Deniz Hasırcı, Department Head. Sertan Ozbudun, partner of Bun Design, which is one of the rising trademarks of Turkey with its different designs, has offered different points of view to students with his vast experience. Ozbudun received great interest with his speech where he talked about using typographic directions in interior spaces along with other subjects. He explained the design process of entertaining and functional products within Bun Design in details, and expressed that interior architecture is one of the most valuable professions on earth.
Levent Tümer, Chamber of Interior Architects Chairman of the Executive Board, Abdullah Alkan, Chamber of Interior Architects Secretary General, and Filiz Ultav, Chamber of Interior Architects Izmir Branch Chairperson attended “Chamber of Interior Architects in Turkey” themed seminar as guests. After giving information on the general structure and functions of the Chamber of Interior Architects, the guests shared the importance of professional organization, professional solidarity, and professional boundaries violations with the students. Prof. Dr. Halime Demirkan made a speech on universal design and shared valuable information on the need for criteria for “design for everybody” principle to be standardized.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Hasırcı stated that many participants have attended the courses which are open to all interested parties all throughout the year, and said that, our students take personal responsibility by hosting guests on “participative” approach which is one of the principles of our department.”
