IUE’s education quality endorsed by THEQC

Izmir University of Economics (IUE) has successfully passed the evaluations conducted by the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC) in numerous areas, including education and training, societal contribution, leadership, management systems, and research, thus earning ‘full accreditation’. As one of Turkey's most significant higher education institutions with 11,500 students, 980 academics, and 25,000 graduates, IUE has once again confirmed its educational quality. In 2025, IUE became one of only 28 universities nationwide to receive ‘full accreditation’ for the maximum period of 5 years.
“AN INDICATOR OF HIGH STANDARDS”
Stating that they will continue to take steps to improve education quality with determination, IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Yusuf Hakan Abacıoğlu said, “This achievement is the endorsement that our University has reached high standards in terms of education and training quality, research activities, societal contribution projects, and management systems. It also indicates that we are one of the most respected higher education institutions in our country with our educational philosophy and academic staff. We have stood out with our strengths in many areas, from our University's strategic planning processes to academic performance measurements, from the internal quality assurance system to student participation and satisfaction. The alignment between our institutional goals and practices, the functionality of our quality assurance systems, and our management approach based on strategic planning were also decisive in the accreditation process.”
“WE WILL MAKE QUALITY SUSTAINABLE”
Stressing that they make a difference with university-community cooperation, a research-oriented approach, and innovative education models, Prof. Dr. Abacıoğlu stated, “Institutional accreditation is not an end for us, but an important step on the journey to making quality sustainable. In the coming period, we will continue our goal of being a higher education institution that sets an example at national and international levels by acting with a continuous improvement mindset. We will continue to strengthen our management approach based on continuous development and provide our students with a world-class higher education experience. I thank all the academic and administrative staff, students, and stakeholders who contributed to this success.”
HOW DID THE PROCESS WORK?
THEQC, established in 2015 to evaluate universities according to national and international quality standards, conducted a meticulous review of Izmir University of Economics. A delegation from THEQC visited IUE, conducted on-site visits, and gathered feedback from the University's internal and external stakeholders. After considering all the details, THEQC found it appropriate to grant IUE ‘full accreditation’.
