Cultural Heritage Told Through Rock Art
Anthropologist Gonzalo Sánchez Eguren delivered a presentation titled ‘Rock Art in Altamira and Latmos’ as a guest at Izmir University of Economics (IUE). The presentation compared the prehistoric rock paintings found in Spain's Altamira Cave and the Beşparmak Mountains in the Latmos region of Anatolia from an anthropological and archaeological perspective. The place of these regions, which extend from the past to the present and constitute cultural heritage, in human history was evaluated in terms of symbolism and lifestyles.
The opening speeches of the event, organized with the contributions of the Cervantes Institute and the Spanish Embassy, were delivered by Mehmet Şenbağcı, Representative of International Relations at Izmir University of Economics School of Foreign Languages and Spanish Instructor, and Instructor Dr. Maria Elma Corujo Gonzalez, who thanked Gonzalo Sánchez Eguren for sharing his valuable knowledge and experience.
