Izmir University of Economics (IUE) achieved great success by receiving the ‘A’ title in the satisfaction survey conducted by the University Assessments & Research Laboratory (UNIAR) with the participation of 50 thousand 414 students from 200 universities in Turkey. IUE was Ranking 6th in the general satisfaction ranking of foundation universities in Turkey and first among the foundation universities in the Aegean region last year, IUE maintained its position among the ‘best’ this year. In the overall ranking that includes public universities, Izmir University of Economics ranked 11th.
The 2024 Turkish Universities Satisfaction Survey (TUMA) aimed to rank universities according to the level of satisfaction of students. In addition to the general evaluation, the survey was conducted in six different categories, and IUE was shown as one of the universities that highly met the expectations of students.
‘A PLUS’ IN 3 CATEGORIES
Izmir University of Economics was rated ‘A plus’ in the categories of ‘Satisfaction with the management and operation of the institution’, ‘Personal development and career support,’ and ‘Richness of learning opportunities and resources.’ IUE received the ‘A’ title in the categories of ‘Satisfaction with the learning experience,’ ‘Satisfaction with campus and living conditions,’ and ‘Academic support and interest,’ making it one of the top universities in Turkey in terms of student satisfaction.
SUCCESS MUST BE SUSTAINABLE
Pointing out that they created a socially strong campus environment where students can spend time freely, IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Yusuf Hakan Abacıoğlu stated, “We are very happy to provide a campus life that our students love, willingly come to, and spend their time as they please. I have said many times before, ‘We will listen to our students, talk to them, and prioritize their demands.’ The results show that we have been successful in this. When we talked to our students, they expressed that they were extremely satisfied with the strong academic staff, the English and second foreign language education, and the ease of access to the faculty members. Seeing that satisfaction is very high in the survey conducted by UNIAR makes us proud. Success is important, but sustainable success is even more important. By maintaining our top position among foundation universities, we have shown that we are on the right path, that we speak the same language as our students, and that our success is sustainable.”
STUDENT-ORIENTED UNIVERSITY
Prof. Dr. Abacıoğlu continued as follows: “We see every young person studying at our University as a great value for our country and city. We work to prepare them for the future in the best way possible. We constantly update our physical conditions and curriculum in line with the demands and expectations of the youth. We left our mark on the ‘2024 University Impact Rankings’ announced by the UK-based evaluation organization Times Higher Education (THE) with our success. In the list that includes 2 thousand 152 universities from 125 countries, we were ranked 101-200 in the ‘quality education’ category, surpassing many internationally recognized universities. In the field of quality education, we ranked second among foundation universities in Turkey. When evaluated together with student satisfaction results, independent research clearly shows that we have made significant progress towards our goal of being a student-oriented university. Our goal is undoubtedly to reach an even better point. We will continue our efforts with determination to achieve this.”
