
‘Effective teaching' training for 48 academics

The number of academics, who successfully completed the professional development course titled ‘effective teaching’ at Izmir University of Economics (IUE), reached 48. Pointing out that 28 academics participated in the training program in the fall semester and 20 academics in the spring semester of 2021-2022, Asst. Prof. Dr. Esin Çağlayan, Director of IUE Teaching and Learning Center (TLC), said, “The trainings we have conducted to increase the quality of education at the University will continue in the upcoming period. The trainings have been very useful for academics to acquire new knowledge and skills.”
The 7-week training program carried out by IUE TLC consisted of a total of 12 modules. Academics participating in the training gained knowledge and skills in many topics such as determining learning outcomes, measurement-evaluation techniques, methods to increase in-class interaction, student-centered course design and learning analytics. Academics, who have successfully completed the training course that will increase the quality of education at the University, received her certificates from Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Aşkar and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Kentmen Çin at the ceremony held at IUE Conference Hall.
STUDENT-CENTERED, QUALITY EDUCATION
Drawing attention to the importance of education, Asst. Prof. Dr. Esin Çağlayan, Director of IUE Teaching and Learning Center (TLC), and course instructor, said “For the courses offered at the University to be beneficial for students at the highest level is possible with a student-centered and high-quality teaching. In other words, how educational content is presented and taught to students is of great importance. As IUE TLC, we provide support to the academics during the planning and presentation of course content regarding the methods they can use for students to achieve the highest learning outcomes. The training course has been very productive for academics. In the upcoming period, we will continue to support them with their professional development by continuing our trainings.”
