THE BEST PAPER AWARD FOR YOUNG ACADEMICIANS
Izmir University of Economics Department of Business Administration lecturer Asst. Prof. Gonca Günay and instructor Burcu Güneri have attended the 3rd International Strategic Management Conference in Antalya to present their notice entitled “The Roles Of Education For Promoting Innovation And Entrepreneurship in a Country: Turkey Case”. The notice prepared by the young academicians deserved the best notice in the conference in which Asst. Prof. Dr. Tijen Harcar was the Chairperson.
Asst. Prof. Gonca Günay gave information about their work and said “The main point of this notice is to handle the efforts of primary school, high school and higher education institutions in a systematical approach together with the institutions that organize education such as, Ministry of Education, The Institution of Higher Education and other related institutions such as, Ministry of Finance, private sector, TÜBİTAK. Education, while earning necessary knowledge and skills to the people, adopts a specific culture and life style. What an individual needs to introduce entrepreneurship and innovation is to adopt some approaches while earning necessary knowledge and skills through education. For instance, producing and commercializing a medical device requires a specific knowledge. However, just knowledge is not enough to introduce it. Skills like creativity and tendencies like taking risks are needed.”
Instructor Burcu Güneri stated that in this study, education has a role to support multiple thinking and adopt people the dimensions of culture like taking risks/avoiding ambiguity that is effective on innovation, and said “It is not only possible for education to adopt such a role only with the hellp of education institutions. This only takes place by providing education institutions to develop right connections with the related state institutions and private institutions in the country.”
The award of Asst. Prof. Gonca Günay and instructor Burcu Güneri is presented by Prof. Dr. Erol Eren.
