THEY ARE GOING TO REPRESENT TURKEY WITH A FINANCIAL ANALYSIS
Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences graduate and PhD program students came in first, by leaving all the other universities in Turkey behind, in the competition held by CFA (Charted Financial Analyst) which is one of the most important certification institutions on finance market worldwide.
Izmir University of Economics graduate and PhD program students, who attended the Institute Research Challenge held by CFA for the first time, became entitled to represent Turkey with their presentation about financial analysis of TOFAS company at the finals which will take place in England in March.
İ. Onur Öz, Seda Tunç, Yekta Takım, K. Çağlar Göğebakan and Ünal Seven, who will be going to the finals in London on March 14-15, shared their success with IUE President of the Board of Trustees Ekrem Demirtaş and Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Tunçdan Baltacıoğlu. President Demirtaş congratulated the students and stated that Izmir University of Economics, which was established in 2001 as the first specialization university in Turkey, proved its distinction with the education it provides which focuses on economics.
President Demirtaş said that he is proud of IUE students who’s going to represent Turkey at an international organization held by a leading financial institution worldwide. He said, “We are the first specialization university in Turkey which focuses on economics heavily. Our graduate and PHD program students, at Departments of International Trade and Finance and Business Administration who are also working as research associates, will represent Turkey in London. I would like to congratulate our students for their international success, and their valuable teachers who trained them and their parents. I believe they will bring in more success at the finals as well.”
IUE left Bilgi and Özyeğin Universities behind at the first elimination and ranked among the 4 universities got invited to Istanbul where they came in first with their report on TOFAS. Izmir University of Economics eliminated Bosporus, Sabancı and Bilkent Universities at the Turkish finals that took place at Sabancı Centre and earned the right to go to London. The students, who are getting ready for the TOFAŞ presentation under the guidance of Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of International Trade and Finance Lecturer Assoc. Prof. Dr. Coşkun Küçüközmen and sector advisor John Hunter, will be representing Turkey at Europe, Middle East and Africa regional final in London.

CFA (Charted Financial Analyst) is the most significant certification institute worldwide and organizes a "CFA Institute Research Challenge” every year. 546 universities from 45 countries attended the challenge with more than 2 thousand 500 students last year. Prestigious universities worldwide attend this competition every year. Students participate at the competition with a report about a company they’re assigned by the CFA Institute of the country they represent. Universities are invited to presentation if their report is accepted.
