SHE GAVE UP COOKING AT HOME AND BECAME A STUDENT
Ebru Tunçgenç, 39, who enjoys cooking very much, passed the university exam and scored high enough for Izmir University of Economics, Culinary Arts Management Programme.
Ebru Tunçgenç, currently a prep class student, enters class every day with her 18 year old classmates and takes Culinary Arts Management applied courses in her remaining time. Tunçgenç said that her husband and son, who is also going to take university exam this year, have supported her very much and she’s got into the department she’s desired very much. She’s also said that, her classmates encourage her a lot.
She’s participated at Aegean Culinary Summit last year and received an award. She’s found out that Izmir University of Economics offered Culinary Arts Management Programme and she’s decided to enter the university exam and made only one choice on her preference sheet. She’s been very successful in written and oral exams and has earned the right to become a student in Culinary Arts Management Programme. Ebru Tunçgenç has won the championship award at Aegean Culinary Summit which was held in December.
She’s expressed that, her biggest dream was to cook professionally. Tunçgenç has said that, “I love cooking very much. I’ve entered the cooking contest last year because people told me that I cooked very well. I’ve found out that Izmir University of Economics offered such a programme in that contest. I’ve wanted to learn to cook professionally and entered the university exam with the support of my family. After the interviews, I’ve passed the exam and entered Culinary Arts Management Programme. I’m a preparatory class student this year. In my spare time, I attend the applied courses as a guest student. I’m dying to be an actual student there next year.”
Tunçgenç has said that her son, too, is getting ready for university exams. She’s said that, “Izmir University of Economics is also one of the preferences of my son. If he passes the exam, we could be having education at the same university. My biggest dream after I graduate is to open my own restaurant. I would like to express my gratitude to my classmates and teachers who encourage me. I was a homemaker, now I’m a student. I’m very happy to be a student at Izmir University of Economics since I love to learn and study new things”.
