FACULTY OF LAW DISCUSSED NUCLEAR ENERGY
Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Law brought nuclear energy, a subject that’s being discussed for years worldwide, to the table. Nuclear energy was discussed in judiciary aspects at the symposium named, ‘‘The Past and The Future of Nuclear Energy in Judiciary Aspects’’ which was held at Conference Hall.
Rector of Izmir University of Economics Prof. Dr. Atilla Sezgin made the opening speech and pointed out that the symposium, which was carried out by Faculty of Law for the first time, brought a hot topic up for discussion. Prof. Dr. Sezgin stated, “This has a particular importance for us as being the first symposium held by our Faculty of Law. Nuclear energy is quite an important subject. It’s being discussed for years not only in Turkiye but worldwide. Of course, it has advantages and disadvantages. Most of the European countries provide a big part of their energy through nuclear energy; however, we all witnessed the outcomes of the tragedy in Japan. Therefore, it’s a subject that should be examined thoroughly.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özdamar, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Efe Biresselioğlu, Yurdagül Önay P.A and Damla Cihan Alat P.A participated as speakers in the first session that was moderated by Faculty of Law lecturer Prof. Dr. Meltem Dikmen Caniklioğlu. In the second session, Prof. Dr. Murat Özkan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Aydoğdu, Dean of Faculty of Law Prof. Dr. Huriye Kubilay and Asst. Prof. Dr. Alp Limoncuoğlu discussed subjects relating to nuclear energy.
