Language Passport for IUE Students
Council of Europe, Language Validity Committee included Turkey to The European Language Portfolio Project developed by the Council of Europe in 2003, as a practical method of promoting language learning and intercultural connection among EU countries. In the European Language Passport, which languages are known at which level, where and how these languages are learned, and the duration of learning them are all shown in details. This passport provides convenience in issues like free traveling, residing and working in Europe. The owners of Language Passport have privileges in visa issues, citizenship or applications for studying in EU.
Twelve students of Izmir University of Economics are granted “Language Passports” in accordance with “Common European Framework of Reference for Languages” and with the help of the common work of IUE German Language Coordinator Dr. B. Sevinç Mesbah and Izmir Goethe Institute Director Werner Schmidt.
Izmir University of Economics Faculty of Computer Sciences and Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences students; Ali Pala, Aslı Örenel, Burçin Gürışık, Cem Uslu, Evrim Yorulmaz, Ferhat Yazgılı, Görkem Sarıyer, Gülay Palamar, Kemal Gündür, Oykun Yanılmaz, Rabia Yılmaz and Seliz Polatyar that completed Preparatory Program of German Certificate Examinations under the supervision of IUE instructors Tülay İnceisa and Stefania Bozkır received their passports from German Language Coordinator Dr. B. Sevinç Mesbah.
Moreover, the students that completed the program Ali Pala, Burçin Gürışık and Gülay Palamar are provided with 50% scholarship by IUE German Unit for Zertifikat Deutsch Examinations.
Director of IUE School of Foreign Languages Banu Barutlu stated that besides English, they offer 8 different languages in accordance with “Common European Framework of Reference for Languages” and they are glad to see that the students are graduating form IUE having learned two foreign languages.
