2011 FURNITURE DESIGN IS IN DISPLAY
The students of Izmir University of Economics, the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, the Department of Inner Architecture and Environmental Design as well as the students of the Department Industrial Design are coming together in an exhibition composed of their Works accomplished in this term. This exhibition where 2011 furniture design will be in display, will also determine the midterm grades of the students.
This exhibition which will be organised according to the subject called ‘FFD-301 Furniture Design’ will display the new term Works of students out of these two departments. The exhibition will be organised at the Faculty of Design ad Fine Arts (GSTF) and is going to bring together the representatives of this sector. The evaluation of the exhibition where 120 students with 65 different projects will be present, will start at 09.00 in the morning and continue throughout the day. At the end of the assessments 120 students will experience both the excitement of opening an exhibition and their grades which will affect their studies at the same time.
The projects of the subject furniture design were displayed in Italy in 2009 in the Week of Milano Design and in a number of furniture fairs in Turkey. They contain designs, not only on paper, which contribute to design training as well as furniture sector. ‘This activity will bring together the university and the sector and it will constitute an important motivational effect and an examination of evaluation ‘said Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Can Özcan, the Head of the Industrial Design Department GSTF. He continued ‘The designs accomplished by the students during the first term are not only on paper. All sorts of furniture are displayed in this exhibition. This is very important for the students. Seeing their own projects in the exhibition will be very much motivating for them.’
