IUE HAS BEEN AWARDED A DIPLOMA SUPPLEMENT LABEL
İzmir University of Economics became one of the universities that have been awarded "Diploma Supplement Label", which is regarded as an indicator of the quality of the education in the universities by European Commission. Together with 4 newly added universities, 11 universities in Turkey proved their education quality by receiving this certificate.
The Diploma Supplement given to the graduating students in a Higher Education Institution has a big importance for indicating that the student has a more understandable and comparable diploma in abroad. Diploma Supplement makes it easier for the students to have the opportunity to work or study abroad. Rector Prof. Dr. Attila Sezgin stated that as İzmir University of Economics, they were very proud to be awarded Diploma Supplement Label and said, "Although our university is only nine years old, it achieved a big success. The quality of the education given at our university is registered in accordance with the criteria determined by the European Commission."
This year, together with İzmir University of Economics, Anadolu University, İzmir Institute of Technology and Marmara University are awarded Diploma Supplement Label given by the European Commission. Diploma Supplement Label will be given by the European Commission in the ceremony that will take place on October 5, 2010 in Belgium.
Diploma Supplement Label was given to Bilkent University, Ege Unversity, Gebze Institute of Technology, Karadeniz Technical University, Middle East Technical University, Sabancı University, and Sakarya University before. İzmir University of Economics is the third foundation university among 51 foundation universities that are awarded "Diploma Supplement Label".
What is Diploma Supplement?
Diploma Supplement is a document attached to a higher education diploma aiming at improving international 'transparency' and at facilitating the academic and professional recognition of qualifications (diplomas, degrees, certificates etc.). Diploma Supplement Label is issued by national institutions in accordance with the template developed collectively by European Commission, Council of Europe and UNESCO. The document that is developed by the council organized by these three institutions is prepared in all official languages and issued to the graduates of the universities that are involved in the process.
