98.6% success in student preferences

Continuing its educational journey for 24 years as the first Foundation University in the Aegean Region, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) has achieved a general occupancy rate of 98.6%, earning a place among Turkey's most preferred foundation universities. According to the results of the 2025 Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS), IUE achieved a 100% occupancy rate in associate degree programs and 98.06% in undergraduate programs, ranking at the top among foundation universities in the Aegean. Mahmut Özgener, President of the IUE Board of Trustees, emphasized that the general occupancy rate for foundation universities across Turkey is 76.55% and stated, “We have reached a significant success by being 22 points above the national average. We will not betray the trust of our students and their families. Together, we will write new success stories.”

With the announcement of the 2025 YKS preference results, the long wait has ended for millions of young people. Izmir University of Economics once again maintained its strong performance during the open house, becoming one of the universities most in demand. With its technological infrastructure, strong academic staff with international experience, global connections, and innovative vision, IUE stood out by meeting the expectations of young people.

Stating that they have once again repeated their success in preference rates in recent years, Mahmut Özgener said, “This success is not just about numbers; it is the result of our University’s consistently maintained vision over the years. Construction of our new campus in Güzelbahçe is continuing rapidly. We will complete the first phase of the campus in July 2026. I always say, the most valuable legacy we will leave to the future is the young people. The 98.6% occupancy rate is a sign of the trust placed in us. We are a University that stands out not only in the Aegean but also across Turkey. This year, a total of 2,398 young people chose to join the Izmir University of Economics community.
