THE COUNTDOWN BEGAN FOR GUINNESS RECORD WITH 1001 KINDS OF FOOD
Association President Hayati Gökçeel stated that the activity area was 7 thousand m2 and 800 m2 of it was closed 4 thousand m2 was going to be used for open buffet. He said, “We were organizing food festival every year in tourism week celebrated from April 15 to 22. This year we wanted to carry it to international level. By the way, we counted that we could make 1001 kinds of food and we aim to break the Guinness Record owned by Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas, USA with 607 kinds. When we accomplish, we will bring a record to Turkey and Kuşadası which is very hard to break.”
Secretary General Serkan Tütüncü stated that 28 five-star hotels and nearly 15 restaurants supported them with their crews and said, “90 % of the food in the menu will be from Turkish Cuisine, and 10 % will be from world cuisine. Besides the commission that will come from England to approve the record, famous chefs from different countries from Japan to America will come for the festival. We believe that this will contribute to the presentation of not only Turkey but also the Turkish Cuisine. We thank to all the institutions and companies and especially to IUE Department of Culinary Arts and Management for their support.”
IUE Department of Business Administration lecturer Assoc. Prof. Melike Demirbağ Kaplan said “As it is seen in this example, although our Department of Culinary Arts and Management that aims to raise professional chefs needed by the sector who know English very well and who have a command of world cuisine started education this year, it both gained acceptance and support by the sector. We are very glad to be taking part in the festival and record attempt which will be an important experience for our students.”
