SUPPORTING THE SISTER SCHOOL

Izmir University of Economics supported sister school Salih Dede High School with an end of year seminar for teachers. Salih Dede High School teachers received training on subjects such as "critical thinking and course design based on critical thinking", "ideal teacher", "testing and measurement techniques", "drama as a teaching method", "classroom management", "learning motivation", and "technology as a teaching method".
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nesrin Oruç, Director of IUE EKOSEM (Continuous Education Centre), Asst. Prof. Dr. Evrim Üstünlüoğlu, Director of School of Foreign Languages (SFL), Asst. Prof. Dr. Aynur Yürekli Kaynardağ, Vice Director of SFL, Asst. Prof. Dr. Bahar Gün, Lecturer at SFL, and Esin Çağlayan, Haldun Kaya, and Fundan Çetin, instructors at SFL English Preparatory Program and Undergraduate/Associate English Program delivered the trainings. 50 teachers benefitted from the seminars that took place at Izmir University of Economics.
‘Sisterhood will continue with Education’
SFL Director Asst. Prof. Dr. Evrim Üstünlüoğlu stated that they aimed to raise teachers’ motivation. Üstünlüoğlu said, “The seminars were practice-based. Participants took the floor and actively participated. It turned out to be a cozy sharing experience. Such activities between the two institutions will continue in the upcoming academic year as well.”
