First place in sailing goes to Izmir University of Economics

The Sailing Team of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) made its mark at the 14th Jimmy Key Universail Sailing Races, where 27 teams from various universities competed. The 8-member IUE team celebrated reaching the top by winning first place both in the overall standings and in the ORC A group at the competition held in Urla Iskele. Having also made a strong impression last year by winning first place in the ‘IRC A1’ and ‘Support 4’ categories, the young sailors from Izmir University of Economics continued their success this year, turning their victories into a winning streak.
PERMANENT AT THE TOP
IUE Sports Coordinator Murat Palalı stated that as a University, they are ambitious not only in sailing but across all branches of sports. Emphasizing that they have made success in sailing continuous and that the students’ great efforts throughout the year have paid off, Palalı said, “IUE Health, Culture, and Sports Directorate, operating under our Dean of Students Office, has provided significant support to our sailing team throughout the year, just as it supports all IUE student clubs. We have a very strong team, which already includes national athletes. We have been practicing according to a specific plan and program for a long time, and this has led us to success. As a team, we bonded closely, and team members have excellent communication among themselves. Achieving success is important, but making it sustainable is even more critical. Reaching the top is one thing; staying there is even harder. We are proud that our sailing team has managed to do just that. I sincerely congratulate them and thank them for bringing this pride to our University.”
