AYÇİN TURAN FROM IUE ACHIEVED AWARD IN POSTER DESIGN COMPETITION
Thousands of designers all around the world attended the International Poster Design Competition “Good 50X70” that is organized for the purpose of drawing attention to the seven most important problems of the world. 30 finalists out of 2710 posters from each category like Child Mortality, Global Warming, Human Rights Violation, Hunting, STDS, War Victims and Water Scarcity were exhibited.
Izmir University of Economics Communication Design 3rd Grade student Ayçin Turan’s poster achieved success in Whale Hunting category. Turan stated that Whale Hunting is profitable for many sectors like cosmetics and said, “Many cosmetic products include whale oil and the people that buy these products contribute to whale hunting. However, each cosmetic product that is bought for beauty includes the life of a whale. While designing this poster I drew attention to this subject and wanted them to be more skeptical.”
The posters will be used in the advertisements of non-profiting institutions like Greenpeace, WWF and UNICEF. The winning posters will be exhibited at La Triennale gallery, Milan, from the 10th of June until the 22nd of June.
