IUE, A BEACON IN INDUSTRY COLLABORATION

Izmir University of Economics and EKOSEM (Continuous Education) Research Centres become solution partners to industrialists. IUE started its consultancy services with 15 firms in plastic sector as part of Communiqué on Supporting the Development of International Competitiveness by Ministry of Economy.
The services to be provided within the body of Izmir Chamber of Commerce will be provided by Izmir University of Economics, EKOKENT and EKOSEM Research Centres. Prof. Dr. Erhan Ada, Prof. Dr. Cengiz Erol, Prof. Dr. Hasan Baklacı, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Yiğit Kazançoğlu take part in the coordination team of the project.

Prof. Dr. Erhan Ada, the Director of IUE EKOKENT (Regional Development, Urban and Environment) Research and Application Centre, pointed that the project was a major opportunity to make industry-university collaboration happen. Prof. Dr. Ada said, “Consultancy services improve the international competitiveness of the companies. Based on the studies conducted, it is evident that the companies need to focus their needs on specific areas. Consultancy services will especially be provided in various areas of business management.”

Prof. Dr. Ada stated that consultancy services will be provided by the expert faculty members within the framework of a continuous schedule, and that the enterprises invested in their future significantly through these services. Prof. Dr. Erhan Ada stated the following:

“According to the regular schedule, there will be a company visit every two weeks, but it can be changed based on the content and the necessities. The services will focus on concrete problems to be co-determined by consultants and company managers and/or system development.  Also, any subjects related to concrete problems and/or system development will be included in the studies as part of the systems approach.”
