THE HEART OF ECONOMICS BEATS AT IUE
Turkey achieved a big success by hosting Mini Euro Conference (EurOPT 2010) one of the most important organizations in Europe. The 24th conference organized by İzmir University of Economics brought the important names in operational research, optimization, and financial applications fields together.
IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Attila Sezgin made the opening speech of MiniEuro Conference that took place in İzmir University of Economics Conference Hall and stated that conferences of this magnitude, which bring universities and academicians together, enhance scientific knowledge accumulation and scientific communication. The chair of the conference Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Cemali Dinçer said, "I am very pleased that our university is the host institution for this event. And I hope in the future, we will be able to create further opportunities to meet together here in Izmir University of Economics. It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to the 24th Mini EURO Conference on Continuous Optimization and Information-Based Technologies in the Financial Sector, MEC-EurOPT-2010 to be held here in Izmir University of Economics, between today, and Friday."
180 academicians from Turkey and abroad attended Mini Euro, which is the smaller of Euro (Association of European Operational Research Societies) Conference, one of the biggest conferences in Europe. 35 countries including especially all the countries in Europe and the countries like USA, Australia, Japan, Brazil, India, Mexico, Nigeria, Singapore, Algeria, Qatar and Iran attended the conference.
In EurOPT 2010 with the theme "Continuous Optimization and Information-Based Technologies in the Financial Sector", the risk analysis subject will also be discussed as well as the current issues. Six important and world-famous speakers will attend the conference with 1-hour presentations and discuss the analysis of the global crisis in finance sector and scientific approaches about what has to be done. The most important speakers of the conference are Ralph Tyrell Rockafellar, Roger J-B Wets, Panos M. Pardalos from the USA, Juan Enrique Martinez Legaz from Spain, Ulrich Horst from Germany and Süleyman Özekici from Turkey.
İzmir University of Economics Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Cemali Dinçer indicated that organizing Mini Euro Conference in Turkey was a big success and said, "MiniEuro, which is one of the most important organizations in operational research and industrial engineering are being organized once or twice a year. It is accepted as the smaller of the Euro Conference organized each year. We are proud that İzmir University of Economics Department of Industrial Systems Engineering hosts the conference that will take place for the first time in Turkey. It is also a big step for Euro Conference. The conference where 180 scientists will discuss the current researches will focus the world's attention on İzmir."
