Dreams of IUE students don’t get “interrupted”

The young people, who will have a say in the future of Turkey and the world, shape their academic lives with Izmir University of Economics (IUE) "uninterrupted scholarship" opportunity. Students of Izmir University of Economics attend double major, minor, and Erasmus programs without worrying their scholarship will be terminated. Students receive undergraduate education in a different area without fear that their education will be interrupted, and they can register for Erasmus programs freely.
Students receive multi-faceted education
Noting that they implemented uninterrupted scholarships during the education period allowed by YOK, Prof. Murat Borovalı, Consultant to IUE Board of Trustees (General Coordinator) said, “After our uninterrupted scholarship practice, we have seen that our students' interest in Double Major and Erasmus programs has increased. Students pursue their academic goals without worrying their scholarship will be terminated. Our goal is to give our youth a good education when planning their future. Today's business world prefers young people who receive multi-faceted education. Soon, there will be professions that we do not even know. During this period, they need to raise themselves in many ways. With our uninterrupted scholarship opportunity, our students prefer to get a second diploma in different fields besides their departments or to gain experience abroad.”
Youth shaping the world of science with basic sciences preference discount
Indicating that they are the first foundation university in the Aegean Region to offer uninterrupted scholarship, Prof. Borovalı stated that students receive scholarship and discounts for 4 years in associate, 7 years in undergraduate programs, and 9 years in Faculty of Medicine. Prof. Borovalı also reminded that first-degree relatives of the members of Izmir Chamber of Commerce were provided 25% discount, and members of other chambers of commerce received 15% discount. Stating that they started the basic sciences preference discount this year, Prof. Borovalı said that students preferring to study sociology, mathematics and physics with 50% discount would receive an additional 25% discount if they meet the conditions, benefitting from a total of 75% discount. Prof. Borovalı pointed that they also started the Department of Architecture YKS Merit Discount this year. He said, “Students, who are placed to IUE Department of Architecture with a 25% discount quota with YKS exam and who rank in the top 125 thousand in the numerical score type, will receive 25% Department of Architecture YKS Merit Discount in addition to 25% YKS discount. Thus, they will pay tuition fees at a discount of 50% in total.”
Investing in the future
Noting that students are turning to the desired major when planning their future, IUE Secretary General Çağdaş Yıldırım said, “Our students can move freely thanks to the uninterrupted scholarship offer. Within the period approved by YOK, they develop themselves in different fields and invest in their future. We have over 10 thousand students. 169 of them are doing double major and 82 are doing minor. These numbers will increase even more in the upcoming semester.”
Youth are getting specialized in many areas

I was not thinking about Erasmus or Double Major Program fearing that my scholarship would be terminated. Being assured that my scholarship will last for 7 years, I will be able to apply for the program I want. Right now, I am thinking about double majoring at Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. I won’t be worrying that I must complete it within 4 years. It won't be a problem if it takes longer. I will also be going to Erasmus at the same time,” Kösetorun.

I will be graduating with a dual diploma by only extending the school one year. I will have a diploma from both Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts and Department of New Media and Communication. I am also planning on attending Erasmus programs knowing that my scholarship will not be terminated. I got accepted by Italy for Erasmus.”
