PLAQUE OF APPECIATION TO PROF. DR. SEZGİN
An award ceremony has been held for Rector Prof. Dr. Atilla Sezgin in
honour of his long, and hard labour. Prof. Dr. Sezgin will continue his
job at Izmir University of Economics as an Honorary Member of Board of
Trustees.
President of the Board of Trustees Ekrem Demirtaş has presented Rector Prof. Dr. Atilla Sezgin with a plaque of appreciation at the ceremony to which members of the Board of Trustees, Izmir Chamber of Commerce Education and Health Foundation Executive Board members, academic and administrative personnel have attended.
President Ekrem Demirtaş has talked about Prof. Dr. Sezgin's hard work during the establishment phase of Izmir University of Economics, and he's said, "Prof. Dr. Atilla Sezgin was a member of Higher Education Council of Turkey (YÖK). President of YÖK for that period was Kemal Gürüz. He's shown great support and efforts during the enactment of the law. After the legislation went through and after the decision to establish the university was made, we naturally wanted Prof. Dr. Atilla Sezgin to be our Rector. However, Kemal Gürüz did not agree with us. We had to wait a whole year for Prof. Dr. Atilla Sezgin to become our Rector. We couldn't have established Izmir University of Economics if it weren't for Prof. Dr. Atilla Sezgin and Kemal Gürüz."
President Demirtaş has indicated that Izmir University of Economics has achieved phenomenal successes; he's continued to say, "Our University has accomplished a lot since its establishment thanks to great efforts of Prof. Dr. Atilla Sezgin. He will come and work at his office whenever he pleases, and will continue to contribute to our University. He will continue to be with us. We also got a bust statue made for him. Our pictures and measurements have been taken. It will be placed on campus in a very short time. We express our gratitude to our Rector Prof. Dr. Atilla Sezgin, who has endeavoured a lot before and during the establishment of our University, and brought our University to these days."
Prof. Dr. Sezgin has pointed out in his speech that Izmir University of Economics was one of the leading universities of Turkey in its 11th Academic Year. He's said, "Our University is the only foundation university awarded with ECTS Label which has received "Diploma Supplement Label" and successfully completed Bologna Process. I am very proud to be a part of such a successful university. I will continue to be with you from now on as well."
