Lecture by Professor Guy Standing: “The Precariat: Rentier Capitalism's Dangerous Class”
İzmir University of Economics Department of Sociology is honored to host Professor Guy Standing as the first speaker of the Fall 2025 Semester. Known for his pioneering work on labor relations and precariousness, many of which have been translated into Turkish, Professor Standing will deliver a lecture entitled “The Precariat: Rentier Capitalism's Dangerous Class.” Standing is a Professorial Research Associate at SOAS, University of London. In addition, he is a founding member and honorary co-president of the Basic Income Earth Network (BIEN), an international non-governmental organization advocating for a universal basic income.
