IUE, HOSTED PROF. DR. NURİ BİLGİN
In the framework of the events organized collectively by Department of Psychology and Psychology Club Prof. Dr. Bilgin gave a conference on “Psychosocial Background of Totalitarianism: Authoritarian Personality”. The event that took place in İzmir University of Economics Conference Hall attracted great attention from inside and outside the university. In his speech, Prof. Dr. Bilgin gave important information about the history of social psychological approaches to authoritarian personality.
Prof. Dr. Bilgin stated that authoritarian personality was one of the main subjects of social psychology and this state could be stem from periodical conditions. Prof. Dr. Bilgin expressed that authority was not peculiar to a single worldview and said that the researchers considered authoritativeness as a unilateral characteristic. At the end of the conference, IUE Head of Department of Psychology Assoc. Prof. Hakan Çetinkaya presented a plaquette to Prof. Dr. Bilgin.
In the scope of the Psychology Days Prof. Dr. Nuri Bilgin was invited as the second speaker of this academic year. The students who had the chance to ask questions about their studies and the future of psychology stated that Psychology Days were very beneficial and important event.
