LEGENDARY PRESIDENTS TALKED ABOUT FAIR PLAY IN IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS
Ali Şen stated that the violence on the football fields should be reacted normally, “The events experienced today should not be exaggerated. The masses that we call supporter are you, us. We have curse in our genes. You cannot prevent cursing in the tribune until preventing cursing on the street. The legislation changed a few days ago. There will not be police on the football fields anymore. It can be a revolution.” Özhan Canaydın stated that he did not agree with Ali Şen about admitting violence. “Ali Şen is right in his opinion, yes, we do not experience very big incidents today. But, every week there is an occasion. This is in fact the creation of 1980 military coup. The youth of that day could only be discharged in tribunes, so violence became inevitable. But, as you see here, our friendship never ended.”
Serdar Bilgili stated that he learned fair play from Süleyman Seba and he was supported by Özhan Canaydın and Ali Şen during his presidency. He said, “I apologized for the things done to Fatih Terim in İnönü. The supporters got angry with me. They cursed. I left presidency. There is a lot of things that every one can do to prevent violence, especially the youth. The friendship in this hall must be experienced in tribunes too.”
Later, the presidents answered the questions of the students and Ali Şen said that it was normal for Aziz Yıldırım to be candidate for presidency again; however, if the supporters carried on disputing, he would be in trouble. Serdar Bilgili said that he would not be president again, but he would continue to stand by Beşiktaş . IUE Board of Trustees President Ekrem Demirtaş stated that being a sports club manager was a really serious job and they planned to offer Sports Management Undergraduate Program at İzmir University of Economics in order to raise professional managers.
