IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS IS READY FOR 2023
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) established its goals, determined its strategies, and set its course until 2023. IUE, the first foundation university of Izmir and Aegean Region, is determined to continue to make students its focus point. Izmir University of Economics will be following the global trends closely, and act together with its worldwide advisors.
Izmir University of Economics completed its 2013-2023 Strategic Plan studies. Following the 2013-2023 Strategic Plan Search Conference, moderated by Tınaz Titiz, that took place at Boyalık Beach Hotel, Çeşme on September 13-15, 2013 with 90 participants, IUE set forth its straight route. Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees, indicated that they would be following the global trends in higher education within the next ten year period. President Demirtaş stated that they would be conducting their internationalization studies abroad with world renowned advisors Prof. Dr. Seeram Ramakrishna and Prof. Dr. Philip Kitchen. He said their new route was finalized, and it involved taking global trends into consideration by making the students focus point in accordance with the demands of the business world.
Knowledge will become financial benefit
President Demirtaş stated that they conducted a detailed search conference through brainstorming in order to come up with the best. He said, “We established our route until 2023 together with our students, academicians, board of trustees, professionals after a thorough thinking process. Our route is ready now. You will be seeing an Izmir University of Economics on the rise of basic values as innovation, participation, social responsibility, perfectionism in the next ten years.” President Demirtaş also stated that research was one of the most significant functions of higher education, however, knowledge generation in the 21st century was not adequate, and they would allocate more resources in order to turn knowledge into financial benefit.
President Ekrem Demirtaş stated that their strategic themes were lifelong learning, sustainability, quality orientedness, social responsibility, global effect, and collaborations with business world and civil society. President Demirtaş, who stated that they have given a priority to review their mission and vision as part of the search conference, said the following:
“We get our strength from our roots, our past, but we need to look at each element over and over in order to renew and get ready for future. We undertook the mission of training graduates who are entrepreneurs and critical thinkers and equipped with leadership qualities, and contribute to science with unique researches. And we established our vision as becoming a prominent higher education institution who leads the society with universal quality of education and scientific researches. Izmir University of Economics is taking stronger steps towards 2023 more confidently.”
