IUE PRIDES ITSELF ON BEING THE LEADING UNIVERSITY IN THE AEGEAN REGION
Izmir University of Economics maintains its justified leadership in overall placement among the foundation universities in Izmir and Aegean Region in its twelfth year of establishment. A new addition of one thousand 377 students were admitted to Izmir University of Economics, which is among the top leading foundation universities in Turkey with the quality of education and reforms it provides in higher education.
1,163 undergraduate degree program students and 214 associate degree program students will start studying at 9 faculties and 2 vocational schools of IUE in 2013 - 2014 Academic Year. The 10 student quota for Psychology Fredonia Program was filled completely at Izmir University of Economics which offers the most dual diploma programs in Izmir. Full placement is anticipated at Department of Culinary Arts and Department of Fashion and Textile Design, both of which admit students through aptitude test, after pre-registration is over.
Ekrem Demirtaş, President of the Board of Trustees, stated that Izmir University of Economics successfully reached its goals this year as it did in the previous years. He said it was very pleasing to know that 214 students preferred Vocational School and Vocational School of Health Services with its newly opened programs. President Demirtaş indicated that two year programs were such an advantage for students who wanted to start their future and career at once. Demirtaş said, “We added 2 more programs in Vocational School by taking last year’s high placement ratios into consideration. Associate degree programs in Turkish were preferred more by students. Izmir University of Economics is leaving aside all financial expectations and carrying out a very important mission. The fact that Vocational School, where we train the qualified personnel required by business world, is preferred is such good news for education life.” Demirtaş also stated that they started off with the purpose of making a breakthrough in health sector, and they initially started with Vocational School of Health Services to lay the foundation for Faculty of Medicine, and they would train the managers of the sector first at the Health Management Program.
President Demirtaş pointed out that they had to increase the quota for Faculty of Law due to the fact that it achieved full placement two years in a row since its establishment. He said, “IUE Faculty of Law is training lawyers who would make a difference for Turkey with its different programs and benefits. We are very pleased to know that there is full placement 2 years in a row even though we increased the quota. We are also very excited to be welcoming the first student of Department of Civil Engineering this year.''
President Demirtaş stated that candidates who were interested in taking the aptitude test for Department of Culinary Arts and Department of Fashion and Textile Design needed to pre-register by Monday, August 12, and invited the young people to become part of the ambitious education system at IUE.
