TALENTED HANDS COMPETED FOR CHAMPIONSHIP

Talented hands competed for championship at 2nd Aegean Cuisine Summit, being held by Yeni Asır Tv within the main sponsorship of Izmir University of Economics and Chamber of Commerce.
125 competitors in 5 different categories attended to the competition, held in Izmir Kulturpark and regional foods were represented to the visitors. The competition that is held in 5 categories like meat, fish, olive oil dishes, dessert and pastry, 125 attendants competed to be the champion. ‘’Slow Food’’ entitled panel, that was held by vice Rector Prof. Dr. Tuncdan Baltacioglu, aroused interest before the competition. Having done opening speech of the competition, Izmir University of Economics President of Board of Trustees Ekrem Demirtas, stated that our regional food culture is under threat.
Having stated that Aegean and Mediterranean food culture has 3 main elements, said that ‘’Fish, Olive and Tree forms the culture of this region. These three elements mean health. We live in a very important culture. We have to write a book that can easily describe Aegean and Mediterranean Cuisine.’’
At the end of the competition, Simay Capa was the first on fish category, Begum Nur Ozmen was second on stew, Sonay Malcı was the first on dessert category, Ayben Cabuk was the first on olive oil food category, and Gul Uruc was the first on pastry category.
