INNOVATIVE IDEAS FROM YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS
Embryonix, established within Izmir University of Economics for supporting entrepreneurial ideas, created another outstanding project. The Universities of Izmir; Ege, Dokuz Eylül, Izmir Institute of Technology, Yaşar and Izmir University of Economics participated in the “Entrepreneurship Camp” organized by the company, and it gave way to bring creative ideas to the foreground.
In the first day of the camp, the teams that worked on Marketing Communication Strategies made presentations in accordance with the information given by Tesco Kipa Marketing Manager Bilge Gönenç. The students developed brand strategies using this information. The teams that received marketing training from Izmir University of Economics Lecturer Melike Demirbağ Kaplan, competed to find innovative business ideas in the next day.
University Students Made Selling on the Street
After the sales training they received from Taylan Demirkaya from Türev Consultancy, the students went to Kemeraltı and made shopping with 150 YTL and they tried to sell the things they bought within the shortest possible time and in highest price. The teams preferred to sell lotto, balloon, fish, toy, kite and plum. Izmir University of Economics made the highest income by selling lotto.
In the last day, the teams received training from Asst. Prof. Gonca Günay and Egeus Consultancy trainer Barbaros Epikmen Tunç, and with “Tahtakale Application” they tried to receive the highest virtual money by selling various products like lentil, egg, fruit juice in the shops formed at the campus. Difficulties such as; price alteration, speculations, inflation were awaiting the students. Ege University that got these difficulties over and gather the highest points won foreign trade training from Apex Academy.
Embryonix Manager Özgecan Özenç stated that “Entrepreneurship Camp” was organized under the main sponsorship of Izmir University of Economics, and said “We would like to thank to Tesco Kipa, Barçın Sports, Potlach Production, Firuz Catering which gave support to the camp together with IUE.” Özenç also said “With the first Entrepreneurship Camp organized for the first time in Turkey, we saw how the young people can create innovative and different ideas when they are given the chance. Even though there is one winner in the camp that lasted five days, the ideas arose and the experiences gained were the profits of all the participants. We are expecting higher participation in the second camp that we will organize next year.”
