İzmir University of Economics Rector Prof. Dr. Attila Sezgin declared that Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering was among the leading professions in the world and the graduates of this department would find jobs in civil and military institutions, GSM companies and many other companies that make electronic system designs. Prof. Dr. Sezgin said, “Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, which designs electronic telecommunication and information systems by using the technology and problem solving abilities is among the leading professions of this era. The aim of the program is to raise graduates who have the adequate technical information and skills to make designs and researches for solving problems related to engineering, and who will be successful in their careers related to engineering studies or high level academic studies.”
Prof. Dr. Sezgin stated that the other department that was going to be offered in this academic year was Sociology, which needed well-qualified personnel and underlined that the content of the undergraduate program was going to create a difference. Prof. Dr. Sezgin also stated that the course program that was prepared with an applied sociology perception was a big advantage for the student and said, “The Department of Sociology has big differences both in terms of its course content and its aims about raising students with qualifications needed in the sector. The course program prepared with an applied sociology perception will help the students to develop skills about planning, applying, analyzing and reporting sociological research projects after graduating. The elective courses in the department are put in the curriculum by considering the social problems that sociology deals with and wants to find solutions. The aim of our department is to raise well-qualified sociologists needed especially by the survey companies in Turkey.”
Department of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering will receive 75 students 8 of which are with scholarship and Department of Sociology will receive 25 students 10 of which are with scholarship.
