Health tourism trainings start

Izmir University of Economics (IUE) has been authorized by the Ministry of Trade to provide vocational training in English or Turkish to people working in the health tourism industry. IUE became the first university in the Aegean Region to receive this authorization. Prof. Dr. Nesrin Oruç Ertürk, Director of IUE Continuing Education Center, stated that they aim to contribute to the development of Izmir, which stands out with its natural resources, medicinal herbs, hot springs and cultural richness, in health tourism with ‘education’. Ertürk said, “People who work in the health tourism industry and want to increase their professional capacity and improve their foreign language skills in this field can gain expertise by participating in our training programs.”
The training courses to be provided by IUE lecturers will last 72 hours in total. The trainings, which include topics such as types of health tourism, current trends, management of health tourism businesses, health tourism strategy, marketing and practices, will be held online or face-to-face. The trainings will start on a date to be determined within this year.

A GOOD EXAMPLE OF CAMPUS IZMIR
Prof. Dr. Nesrin Oruç Ertürk, Director of IUE Continuing Education Center, stated that work on the planning and schedule is ongoing. Stating that Izmir has a great potential in the field of health tourism, Ertürk said that they aim to further develop this with the training opportunities they will provide as a university. Ertürk said, “The Ministry of Trade meticulously examines the universities it authorizes to provide health tourism training. It makes a decision by examining many criteria, including the technological infrastructure, education capacity and physical conditions of the university. We are happy that we fulfilled all these criteria and received authorization. As a university, we frequently emphasize that we are the founders of Campus Izmir, the first model of university-city integration in Turkey, and that we see the entire city as our campus. We have realized a good example of this with health tourism training.”
THERE IS A GREAT POTENTIAL
Prof. Dr. Ertürk continued as follows: “Izmir is a city with great potential in health tourism with its natural resources, favorable climate, hot springs, medicinal herbs, cultural richness and convenient transportation facilities. Izmir has the equipment to always be at the top in health tourism. As a university, providing educational support to people working in this field means contributing to Izmir's development in health tourism and being a driving force. We will continue our work with this awareness. Companies wishing to participate in the trainings can pre-register on our website."
