Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Therapies

This seminar examines the development of psychoanalytic theory and its fundamental concepts within a historical and theoretical framework.

First, the formation of the unconscious and the process of repression will be discussed to explore the dynamics of mental processes. The psychoanalytic interpretation of dreams will be addressed in the context of mechanisms providing access to the unconscious. The drive theory will be examined in relation to the fundamental impulses that shape human behavior and their effects on psychic structures.

Freud’s structural model (id-ego-superego) will be analyzed in relation to personality dynamics, while psychoanalytic therapies and core techniques will be comparatively evaluated. Finally, transference and countertransference processes will be explored to assess their role in the therapeutic relationship.
