LETTERS OF APPRECIATION BY YOUNG STUDENTS

Young students studying at village schools all across Anatolia reached to their big brothers and sisters at Izmir University of Economics via letters. Students, who had their library as part of 'Yürüyen Kitaplar' project of İlgi'siz Student Club of IUE, expressed their gratitude for books, and stressed out that they would be working with enthusiasm to become university students.
In their letters, the young students expressed their feelings through pictures as well. The members of İlgi'siz Student Club, purchased one thousand books for each school and delivered those to village schools in Denizli, Gaziantep, Düzce, Amasya, and Samsun.
Rıdvan Şengül, President of the Club, a freshman at Department of Sociology, stated that they were able to carry out their project which was funded by Ministry of Youth and Sports and co-supported by Ministry of National Education and Ministry of Culture and Tourism. He said that they received very emotional letters that were written carefully. Şengül said, "We build libraries at schools who need it the most. We organize activities as clown shows, wall painting activities, and soccer games with students, live music, and handing out toys to kindergarten students when we visit their schools. When they see university students, they get both excited and happy. They express their emotions in their letters, which has been very motivational for us. We will further improve our project. Izmir University of Economics supports us, and we support our little friends by coming up with projects.”

A letter by Arzu Yılmaz from Çamlı Middle School, Yığılca, Düzce
"Dear Big Brothers and Sisters; When you visited our school, we had an unforgettable day for the first time. Thanks to you, our school has a library now. When you smiled at us we became happier. The more the books, the more the knowledge. I prayed that the day wouldn’t come to an end. When you left I was very sad. I hope you come back again. I will be reading the books you brought while you are reading my letter. I love you all, goodbye.”
