‘Italian’ Flavor Carnival at Izmir University of Economics
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) hosted the famous Italian Chef Carlo Alberto d'Audino as part of the 9th ‘Week of the Italian Cuisine in the World’ events. In the event organized in cooperation with IUE School of Foreign Languages Italian Language Program, Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics and Izmir Italian Consulate, Italian delicacies consisting of a special menu selected by Alberto d'Audino were presented to the guests.
In the event led by Trainer Chef Gökçe Dikmen and accompanied by the 4th year students of the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, Italian chef Carlo Alberto d'Audino prepared beautiful Italian dishes with the theme ‘Mediterranean Diet and Return to Roots in Cuisine: Health and Tradition’, he gave an unforgettable day to the taste lovers with his beautiful Italian dishes. IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Yusuf Hakan Abacıoğlu, Consul General of Italy in Izmir Daniele Bianchi and academics attended the event which was a feast of taste. Before the event, Rector Abacıoğlu and Consul Daniele Bianchi visited Italian Chef Carlo Alberto d'Audino in the kitchen and had a short conversation.
THERE IS A CULTURAL CONNECTION
Pointing out that Turkey and Italy are two friendly countries of the Mediterranean basin, Prof. Dr. Abacıoğlu said: “The two countries are deeply connected to each other both culturally and historically. Being two countries of the same climate makes Turkey and Italy similar at many points. While food cultures and tastes are very similar in both countries, Italian flavors are very popular and ttract great interest in our country. In this respect, we were very happy to host Italian Chef Carlo Alberto d'Audino at our University.”
