Izmir’s Gateway to the Future: Güzelbahçe Campus

Izmir University of Economics (IUE), which aims to provide Izmir with a world-class, environmentally friendly, and state-of-the-art educational hub, continues its work on the new campus it will build in Güzelbahçe. Undertaking the largest single-phase campus investment ever made by a university in Türkiye, IUE will offer its students the opportunity to study on a unique campus equipped with the latest technology and distinguished by its environmentally friendly features and social spaces.

“THE FIRST PHASE WILL INCLUDE 5 BLOCKS”

Mahmut Özgener, Chairman of the Izmir Chamber of Commerce Executive Board and President of the IUE Board of Trustees, said that they are moving forward as a visionary university that is increasing its influence across Türkiye and is preferred by successful students. Özgener stated: “We have made very significant progress in a short period of time in the construction of our new campus in Güzelbahçe. We are excited; the time has now come for the seeds we have sown together for a bright future to blossom. The first phase of our campus, which will consist of 5 blocks with a total indoor area of 68 thousand square meters, will house the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and the Faculty of Engineering.”

Expressing that the new campus will offer many advantages to students, Özgener said: “Izmir University of Economics, which has shaped its strategies with the vision of rising to first place among foundation universities and ranking among the top 500 universities in the world, is on the verge of a major leap forward. Our campus in Güzelbahçe will use clean energy technologies and include buildings with optimized energy performance. Transportation within the campus will also be provided by electric vehicles. We will offer a learning environment that supports interdisciplinary education and teaching, is research and development-oriented, open to hybrid education, and enriched with flexible spaces. Our students will be able to shape their futures more easily through education personalized according to their talents and needs. Our academics and students will benefit from all the opportunities offered by a smart campus.”

IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Yusuf Hakan Abacıoğlu stated that they are laying the foundation for a new and exciting future, saying: “We know that the future will be different from today.
