7 industrial visits in 3 days
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Department of Public Relations and Advertising organized an industrial visit to Istanbul for its students to offer them new opportunities in their career journeys by introducing them to the business world before they graduate. During the three-day trip, 25 young people, who visited 7 institutions in total, met with the senior executives of companies operating in the international arena, asked what they were curious about, and observed the work system of the companies on site.
The trip to Istanbul, which is a clear indicator of the strong communication network established by IUE Faculty of Communication, Department Public Relations and Advertising with sector representatives in Turkey, was held with the participation of third and fourth year students as well as graduate students.
FAMOUS BRANDS
Visiting Havas Istanbul, Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), Publicis, Zorlu Holding, GoodWorks İletişim Danışmanlığı (Communication Consultancy), VMLY&R ve Reklamcılık Vakfı (Advertising Foundation), young people from IUE both had an opportunity to build a milieu-network and improved themselves. The students, who also visited the Refik Anadol Digital Exhibition (Alcazar's Dream) and the exhibitions at the Pera Museum as part of the Istanbul program, strengthened their cultural infrastructure. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selin Türkel, Head of IUE Department of Public Relations and Advertising, Faculty Member, Prof. Dr. Sema Misci Kip, and Pelin Süzen, Director of IUE Corporate Communications, also attended the trip.
VERY BENEFICICAL FOR STUDENTS
Stating that meeting with companies that manage the communication strategies of international companies and prove themselves with their success, was very beneficial for students, Prof. Dr. Misci Kip said, “In addition to qualified academic education, we also attach great importance to activities that bring our students together with the sector. Communication and advertising are sectors that have been developing rapidly and constantly updating themselves. Therefore, it is very important for us that our students meet with the leading brands of their sectors and experience the work environment, see the office spaces, and ask directly what they have in mind. In this respect, we achieved our purpose with this trip. It was also a very useful program for students to create an effective career plan. We also have a large number of alumni working in the brands we visited. We had the opportunity to meet with them on this occasion. We will continue such programs aimed at the development of students in the upcoming semester.”
