‘Full scholarship’ for IUE national athletes

The "National Athletes Scholarship" opportunity, which was initiated by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in order for national athletes to study at foundation universities with full scholarship and to improve themselves academically, created an opportunity for 5 young people at Izmir University of Economics (IUE). Doğa Deniz Çıkman, Zeynep Tuncalı, Bengü Aktarmaç, Batuhan Arslan and Fevzi Arda Duru, who started their education this year thanks to the protocol signed between the Ministry and IUE, had the opportunity to study in the programs they dreamed of by carrying their success in sports to the university rankings.
The "National Athlete Scholarship Presentation Meeting" was held at the Presidential Complex with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mehmet Kasapoğlu. Students benefiting from the scholarship opportunity and IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Aşkar were also present at the meeting. IUE students visited Anıtkabir as part of the Ankara program.
IT WILL MOTIVATE YOUNG PEOPLE
Mahmut Özgener, President of IUE Board of Trustees, said that they are very happy to contribute to the education of national athletes. President Özgener said, “As a university, we do not only provide qualified education to students, we also encourage them to improve themselves in different branches such as sports and arts. I believe that the national athletes of our university will continue their success in sports in their education lives and represent our country and the University in the best way possible. I believe that this opportunity provided by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to support national athletes will be a very important source of motivation that will direct youth to sports.”
WE WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT
IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Aşkar said, “Young people, who display their superior skills in sports, now have the opportunity to prove this in academic life. The presence of national athletes on our campus is a good example for other students. We will continue to provide scholarships to young athletes and raise them in the best way in the coming years. Qualified and effective time management is another subject we try to instill in our students at the University. With the right planning and time management, it is possible to allocate enough time for both sports and lessons. The success of national athlete students is the best proof of this.”
