IUE globally recognized in information security
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) has successfully completed the audit of "ISO 27001 Information Security Management System Standards Certificate", which is defined as the most valuable international certificate of competency in the field of information technologies. IUE, proving that it protects all data, including the information of the students securely, was entitled to renew the international certificate approved by the Turkish Accreditation Agency (TURKAK).
The Directorate of Information Technologies, which passed the inspection of PROKS company authorized by TURKAK in October last year and brought the certificate to IUE, showed that it has created a safe infrastructure as a result of the two-month audit this year. IUE Rector Prof. Murat Aşkar, stated that the technological infrastructure, which prevents unauthorized access to corporate data from outside, should be constantly renewed according to the developing conditions, and that efforts continue in this direction.
DETAILED REVIEW
Prof. Aşkar stated the following, “Directorate of Information Technologies, composed of IT Directorate and Management Information Systems Directorate, serves all stakeholders on and off the campus with its 15 employees. ISO 27001:2013 Information Security Management System is an international standard designed to protect information assets and to provide adequate security controls in a way to give confidence to relevant parties. This system includes corporate structure, policies, risk assessment and risk action plans, responsibilities and practices. ISO 27001 is the most valuable certificate of competency in the field of information technologies, and we are subject to regular audits on the subject. We have completed the review process of the document we received last year. This process took about two months. It is a great pleasure for us that the infrastructure we have created for information security is examined by an impartial company and successfully passed through this process.”
