University students photographed the pandemic
The “In Social Isolation” titled photography competition, organized by Art Coordinatorship of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) aiming for university students to take photos that best describe the pandemic period, has been finalized. The photographs of hundreds of young people from Izmir to Vienna, from Agrı to Athens, from Istanbul to Budapest, were meticulously examined by a 9-person expert jury. As a result of the evaluation, K. Deniz Kalaycı from Aydın University ranked first place with her photograph about the communication of people over the age of 65 with their grandchildren during the quarantine period. Yusuf Yılmaz from Istanbul University came in second, and Levent Ateş from Anadolu University came in third place.
The competition, in which university students used their creativity with special photographs related to the quarantine and pandemic period, was carried out with the slogan of “Pandemic through Your Lens".
33- PHOTOGRAP DIGITAL EXHIBITION
University students from Turkey and abroad delivered their photographs to the IUE Art Coordinatorship over the internet. At the end of the competition, which created a visual archive about the pandemic period through the eyes of young people, 30 photographs in addition to the award winners were also entitled to be exhibited. A total of 33 photographs were brought together in the digital exhibition and presented to art lovers at https://www.ieu.edu.tr/photocompetition/sonuclar/. The winner was awarded 3 thousand liras, the second-place winner 2 thousand liras, and the third-place winner was awarded one thousand liras.
INTENSIVE PARTICIPATION
Stating that they aim to open the exhibition at the universities where the contestants received awards, IUE Art Coordinator Sinemis Eser Akaoğlu said, “We would like to thank all university students participating in our competition for sharing their feelings, experiences and observations with us through photographs during this difficult period. It was a competition with intense participation, which attracted the attention of young people abroad. Young people participated in the competition with the color or black and white photos they took in March through September. The digital exhibition, which includes award-winning photos entitled to be exhibited, can be visited during the fall semester. We aim to open our digital exhibition, which includes all the participants, online soon.”
