Going global with designs
Costumes and designs of cinema, film and theater plays in Germany are brought to the stages with the signatures of designers from Izmir University of Economics. Jörn Fröhlich, Lecturer, Department of Textile and Fashion Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), got inspired by the musical Queen of the Desert and designed the set and costume for the movie titled "Gerd-Königin des Odenwaldes", which will be premiered in October. Cansu İncesu, graduate of IUE Department of Textile and Fashion Design, also participated as the costume and set assistant in the same movie. Fröhlich also designed the costume for the theater play Revue. Fröhlich and İncesu previously prepared the costumes and stage designs for the plays Alice in Wonderland, Cabaret and Ubu the King, which were staged by different theater groups in Germany.
CAUGHT THE ATTENTION OF THE PRODUCERS
Lecturer Jörn Fröhlich said, “Our previous designs caught the attention of different producers in Germany. We created the set and costume designs for many plays in Germany with our graduate Cansu İncesu. We provide a very good design education at our university. We see the outcomes of this in the work of our graduates around the world. We also have graduates working in the field of design in Germany. We are proud to carry the traces of the textile quality in Turkey to Germany with İncesu.”
