“Difficult and long working conditions can create burnout”
The second session of the webinar series, co-organized by Department of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) and Turkish Surgical and Operating Room Nurses Association, took place with the participation of Asst. Prof. Deniz Ceylan Tufan Özalp, Lecturer at IUE Faculty of Medicine. The event, which was held within the scope of seminars on the experiences and problems of the nurses involved in the pandemic period, was carried out on the blackboard collaborate infrastructure of Izmir University of Economics. 258 participants took part in the seminar titled “You Have A Word in the Pandemic Period: What We Learn, Your Experiences”.
Prof. Filiz Öğce, Dean of IUE Faculty of Health Sciences, and the President of Turkish Surgical and Operating Room Nurses Association, moderated the seminar where the fears and worries and problems of nurses involved in the pandemic period were discussed. Dr. Ceylan said, “All health professionals were affected by the long-standing covid pandemic. They may experience burnout due to anxiety, stress and difficult and long working conditions. It is very important to provide healthcare and psychological support in this challenging period.” Dr. Ceylan also reminded students attending the meeting not to forget about individual measures including mask, hand washing and social distance to ease the burden of healthcare workers who will be their future colleagues.
