The effects of coronavirus on nursing profession are discussed
Department of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), prepared a series of seminars on the experiences and problems of nurses involved in the pandemic period, in collaboration with the Turkish Surgical and Operating Room Nurses Association. The first of the five-part webinar series under the title of “Legal Responsibilities of Surgical Nurses Arising from Medical Practice: Pandemic Special” was held with the participation of nursing students, academics, and nurses working at hospitals.
Prof. Filiz Öğce, Dean of IUE Faculty of Health Sciences, and the President of Turkish Surgical and Operating Room Nurses Association, moderated the seminar held on the Blackboard Collaborate infrastructure of Izmir University of Economics. Nesrin Özkaya, Attorney and Mediator, who studied at the Faculty of Law on top of her undergraduate degree in Nursing, participated in the event as a speaker.
The legal responsibilities and rights of nurses and the difficulties they experienced during the pandemic period were shared at the event. Attorney Nesrin Özkaya shared her own experiences on professional rights and responsibilities with prospective nursing graduates and young nurses who are just starting work at the event where all employees were told the reasons why they should read legal regulations. Özkaya gave updated information on real events.
