Izmir University of Economics will steer educational technologies
Izmir University of Economics’ (IUE) adapting the technology-supported teaching approach to "distance education" with the goal of "excellence in education" brought success. Dr. Esin Çağlayan, Director of IUE Teaching and Learning Center (TLC), has been appointed as a Member of Blackboard Education Technologies Advisory Board. Caglayan, the first person selected from Turkey, will serve to steer educational technology initiatives at Blackboard Leadership Board, which was established in order to respond to the needs of academics and new generation of students.
Çağlayan, who will take part in a board of highly influential people among Blackboard users in 18 thousand institutions from 100 countries, said, “For more than 5 years, we continue our work for both our students and faculty members in order to establish a strong infrastructure related to educational technologies in our university. We easily adapted our technology-supported teaching approach to distance education during the pandemic period. We support our students and faculty members to carry out the process smoothly with our strong infrastructure and experience.”
INTERACTIVE EDUCATION MODEL
Stressing that they would steer innovative educational technologies in the board and representing Turkey and Izmir University of Economics is a very exciting task, Çağlayan noted that they are working to improve the quality of teaching and to provide an education suitable for the needs of new generation students. Çağlayan said, “We have provided our students and faculty to use ‘Blackboard Learn, Blackboard Collaborate, Panopto Lecture Capture and Blackboard Analytics’ systems comfortably and efficiently at the University. Our students come together with our faculty members in an interactive learning environment. They can reach the information they need easily and quickly. The surveys we conducted and the feedback we received from both our students and our faculty members support that we, as Izmir University of Economics, are going through the distance education process very efficiently. Thanks to the system we have implemented without problems for the last 5 years and during the pandemic, our students and faculty members communicate without any space and time limitations.”
INNOVATIVE AND PERFECTIONIST INITIATIVES WILL INCREASE
