‘Ben İstersem’ exhibition at Izmir University of Economics
The “Ben İstersem (If I Want)” titled exhibition, which includes inspiring stories and photographs of 21 young girls from different cities who overcame many difficulties and achieved success in various areas, met with art enthusiasts at Izmir University of Economics (IUE). The exhibition, created by the Aydın Doğan Foundation under the slogan of “Strong girls, strong futures”, can be seen until February 28 at IUE foyer. Artist Mustafa Seven, who photographed the girls in the exhibition, Journalist-Author Melis Alphan, who made stories of their journeys, and Candan Fetvacı, Chair of Executive Board of Aydın Doğan Foundation, will be attending Izmir University of Economics on Thursday, February 27 at 14.00 for a talk event.
The exhibition, which relays the life journeys of girls from different cities of Anatolia, is being displayed for art enthusiasts in a city other than Istanbul for the first time. The exhibition, which attracted great attention of the students, will be displayed at Izmir Chamber of Commerce on 29 February- 7 March 2020. As part of the project, which aims to encourage young girls to participate in the society as productive individuals, also a book titled “Ben İstersem” is prepared which includes the photographs and stories shared in the exhibition.

IUE Art Coordinator Sinemis Eser Akaoğlu pointed that everyone was welcome to attend the exhibition and the talk. Akaoğlu said, “The exhibition is composed of inspiring stories and photographs of young girls from different cities who overcame many difficulties and achieved success in many areas. It is a very special exhibition prepared meticulously. Last month the University hosted the ‘Colombia in 25 photographs’ exhibition. We are very happy to be hosting another significant exhibition after a very short time. We will continue to organize art events in different branches in the days to come.
