High schoolers will “develop” at Development Workshop
The study areas and areas for socialization needed by high school students come to life with the “Development Workshop” project of Izmir University of Economics Vocational School.
Students of Karabağlar Atatürk Vocational and Technical Anadolu High School will get bookcases, reading zones, wall games and board games as part of the Development Workshop Project.
The construction of the project, co-sponsored by Izmir Chamber of Commerce 67th Building Construction and Restoration Committee, Karabağlar Municipality, Sandalyeci, Konfor Furniture, Doxa Office Furniture, and Weber companies, started. Representatives of the sponsoring companies, Izmir University of Economics academics, who investigated the demolition and restoration work on site, met with high school students.
Burçin Önder, Director of IUE Vocational School, stated that students of IUE Furniture and Decoration, and Interior Design Programs designed and manufactured furniture and games for their high school friends. Önder said, “We selected Karabağlar Atatürk Vocational and Technical Anadolu High School for the project. First and second year students of Furniture and Decoration and Interior Design Programs based their projects according to the needs of their high school friends. They designed study areas and areas where they can socialize. They also started a book donation campaign. We aimed to create a fully equipped area for our high school friends to help them self-develop, socialize, and keep them away from mobile equipment so they can establish a healthier communication”.
