Gül, who stated that they wanted to bring students together at a social networking site, said, “We carried out our project basing it on student life. We are students and we know what we need. Geyiklife helps students find rentals, roommates, furniture, appliances, friends, participate in social activities, access course grades, etc. We wanted students to share their experiences as students and interact with each other. Erasmus students can also join the site. We got more than 12 thousand followers in a very short time.”
‘Discount with Geyik currency’
Gül reported that when participants were registering for the system they selected universities, and therefore they were able to see the posts by others who selected same universities. “Participants can make friends from other universities and see their posts as well as sharing posts on their own university wall. There is also geyik currency. Each activity student carries out in this site has a value. Making friends, writing comments, receiving comments, posting, etc. equal to one geyik money. Participants qualify for discounts at locations we have agreements with. They can use these discounts with barcode application at these locations,” said Gül.
