Our Center Director, Asst. Prof. Esin Çağlayan, Delivered Training at the 2026 INED Program
Asst. Prof. Esin Çağlayan, Director of the Teaching and Learning Center (EKOEĞİTİM) at İzmir University of Economics (IUE), delivered training at the 2026 Online Institute for New Educational Developers (INED), held online from July 27 to 30, 2026.
Organized by the Professional and Organizational Development Network in Higher Education (POD Network) and the Center for the Advancement of Teaching at Temple University in the United States, the four-day program brought together professionals who are new to the field of educational development. As part of the program, Asst. Prof. Esin Çağlayan and Nicole Frank from Barton Community College delivered a session titled “The Basics: Workshop Lesson Planning and Facilitation” on July 29, 2026. The session addressed the POD Network competencies of “Principles of Design,” “Reflective Practice,” and “Service.”
During the session, the ADDIE model was used as a framework for planning and delivering effective workshops. Participants worked on strategies for increasing engagement, assessing knowledge retention, and supporting the transfer of learning from workshops to classroom practice. They also had the opportunity to apply the concepts covered during the session to their own workshop ideas.
The 2026 INED program was developed around the Educational Developer Competencies Framework created by the POD Network’s Professional Development Committee. The program focused on applying the core knowledge, skills, and values of educational development to professional practice. Participants also had opportunities to connect with experts and fellow educational developers and reflect on their professional development goals.
